You spent three hours editing a TikTok video, left it in your drafts folder, and woke up to find it completely gone. Before you lose your mind and reinstall the app, which actually deletes your local drafts permanently, you need to understand that these files are stored on your local device storage, not on TikTok servers. A minor glitch in your phone cache or a sync delay with your account is usually the culprit.
Clear the Cache Without Deleting Data
Open your TikTok settings, scroll down to the free up space option, and clear only the app cache. Do not clear your downloads or draft files from this menu. Next, force-close the app completely on your device, toggle your internet connection off and back on, and launch TikTok again to trigger a fresh sync.
Check Your Local Device Storage
TikTok drafts require active local storage to load correctly. If your phone has less than two gigabytes of free space, the system will prevent the app from reading temporary video assets. Free up some internal space by deleting large unused files from your camera roll, restart your phone, and open your draft folder once more.
